Our fleet
Today, Tranzit Group operates a fleet of more than 3,000 vehicles throughout Aotearoa, New Zealand and has invested in significant electric bus charging infrastructure to power our growing fleet of zero-emissions vehicles. This fleet of safe, comfortable and modern vehicles are maintained by our skilled and trained team of panel beaters, mechanics, engineers, spray painters and fleet support specialists.
Our 100 year history
Tranzit Group’s long and proud history dates back to 1925 when Albert Snelgrove established the Grey Bus Service in Wairarapa. After changing to the Royal Blue Bus Service five years later and then the Blue Bus Service in 1947, it was in the 1980s when ownership changed to the third generation, with brothers Paul and Keven Snelgrove buying into the company.
Since that time, The Tranzit Group has grown and expanded to be where it is today – operating multiple brands across multiple sectors including tourism, public transport, Ministry of Education (MOE) school bus and SESTA (Special Education Service Transport) services, event and charters, car rentals and electric buses throughout Aotearoa, New Zealand .
Looking to the future
As a family-owned business, we’ve always thought long term and evolved with each generation whilst keeping our purpose clear -connecting people and communities. Over the last 10-years, Tranzit has looked to the future through an environmental lens – transitioning our diesel fleet to zero emissions to help New Zealand’s transport sector meet its decarbonisation goals.

Tendered contracts form a large proportion of the Tranzit Group’s business. We work closely with our clients to understand their requirements, then design tailored solutions that work for everyone involved.
With the scale and expertise of the Tranzit Group, we can advise, procure, manage, and maintain fleets, including electric buses, while also providing fully trained qualified and experienced drivers. Where needed, we offer additional support such as guidance on charging infrastructure for electric fleets and depot infrastructure.
